All Three Verses to practise... words are below
Our performance group has begun to learn a Te Ati Awa anthem that talks about where we have descended from. Tokomaru is the name of the waka, Tamaariki was the Captain and Rakeiora was the Expert. It talks about an ancestors arriving in this waka (ship) and settling into the area. They built houses in Mohakatino to settle in together. It explains the iwi boundaries from Onuku Taipari (down by Paritutu) out to Stratford and back across to Waitara.
Great to have this resource to access at home and learn together about the history of the waiata.
